Beyond The Black Board
After watching the movie “Beyond the Black Board”, enjoying it and taking notes, I represent here the class management procedures , actions , way of connection between students and teacher which is used by the teacher there with some comments of what I think that not fit too much the effective learning on long term usage.
Classroom management is an important factor of productive learning where students are engaged. When we manage our classes, we avoid discipline problems and bad behaviors. According to Brophy, Classroom management is all the actions taken to create and maintain an environment conducive to learning. We learn that the environment is conductive if it holds five keys. The first one is organizing the physical environment which the teacher did there through organizing new desks she brought to the class, arranging the furniture , decorating the class by coloring the walls, putting drawings and pictures , and supplying technological tools such as TV and radio. Second, establish rules and routines at the beginning of the year to create a favorable beginning by discussing the rules with the students and put them on the walls so they don’t forget them. Then she handled her class perfectly and after a while she asked them to set reading circles, they did it easily. Third ,develop caring relationships which the teacher had done when she taught students to respect each others and apologize and respect each other. Fourth ,implement engaging through students hands’ on learning through activities such as valentine cards which they had done in the class. The fifth key is addressing discipline issues when she was assertive in asking students to apologize when they do wrong acts.
